What we’re trying to do with our events is take a lot of the elements that make the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide great, and be creative with our researchers, professors and academics, and incorporate their expertise into innovative events that inspire, and ignite curiosity.

The annual  are a highlight of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ calendar: it’s an opportunity for us to get together to shine a light on our achievements, and celebrate the absolute excellence we have within our own ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide community. Each nominee this year has made a demonstrable contribution in support of research, teaching or community engagement, and done so while embracing and exemplifying our ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ values of Integrity, Respect, Collegiality, Excellence and Discovery.

I met my future husband at the US Embassy in Baghdad, literally the last place on the planet that I would’ve anticipated meeting the love of my life, and yet here we are! It just goes to show that love can be found in even the strangest places.

Diwali celebrations
We recently celebrated Diwali on our Maths Lawns, bringing together 450 guests for an evening of lights, music, and tradition. The event featured dance performances, diya painting, Parai drumming, Henna art, and more, all capturing the spirit of Diwali.

My family is Indian, but soon after I was born, we moved to Kenya because there were better professional opportunities for my dad. I have always been passionate about learning new things, but coming from Kenya, I didn’t really have access to knowledge as you would here.

Taikunthi now open
North Terrace Campus has a new restaurant, café and bar on level 5 Union House. Taikunthi (pronounced ‘tie-goon-dee’), reflects the spirit of its Kaurna name, meaning to ‘join, unite and partner together’. The menu features dishes made from tasty local ingredients and a carefully curated beverage offering. Open from 8am weekdays for coffee and breakfast, lunch with colleagues or a drink after work.
