Great Imagenet detection results
Last week was the deadline for the ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC 2015) large-scale object detection task. This is the primary challenge for image-based object detection. The challenge requires that you detect 200 classes of objects in a set of test images.
In deep learning end-to-end training of segmentation is best

A research team (Dr. Guosheng Lin, Prof. Chunhua Shen, Prof. Ian Reid, Prof. Anton van den Hengel) at the School of Computer Science, The 杏吧直播 of Adelaide developed innovative 鈥淒eep Structured Learning鈥 techniques that set up the new state-of-the-art semantic image segmentation record in the PASCAL VOC Challenge, which is organised by the 杏吧直播 of Oxford. The Adelaide team is the top one currently, outperforming teams from Microsoft Research, Oxford, 杏吧直播 of California, Los Angles etc.

World's best Coco
The Microsoft COCO Captioning Challenge is designed to spur the development of algorithms producing image captions that are informative and accurate.
AIML semantic image segmentation technique tops the PASCAL VOC Challenge
Researchers at AIML (formerly ACVT) have developed new 鈥淒eep Structured Learning鈥 techniques that set up the new state-of-the-art semantic image segmentation record in the PASCAL VOC Challenge, which is organised by Oxford 杏吧直播. Semantic image segmentation is one of the tasks and probably the most challenging one, which is to label each pixel in images.

PhD Scholarships in Visual SLAM and Computer/Robotic Vision and Machine Learning for visual recognition
The 杏吧直播n Centre for Visual Technologies (ACVT-now AIML) at The 杏吧直播 of Adelaide has 12 PhD scholarships available for both local and international students interested in pursuing a PhD. These Scholarships are funded from an ARC Laureate Fellowship to Prof Ian Reid entitled 鈥淟ifelong Computer Vision Systems鈥, and an ARC Centre of Excellence in Robotic Vision, with Investigators Prof Reid, Prof Chunhua Shen, Dr Gustavo Carneiro and Prof Anon Van den Hengel.
CRC Success
It has just been announced that the Data to Decisions (D2D) CRC application was successful. The ACVT (now AIML) forms a major node of the D2D CRC, being responsible for the analytics program within the CRC. The aim of the D2D CRC is to develop robust data analysis tools applicable to problems of importance to Defence, and other industries.
