What motivated you to apply for the DACKEP grant funding?
To have the best experience abroad by having the financial accessibility to try different experiences in South Korea. Also without having to worry about the costs and for financial support for my living costs while studying in a foreign country.
What motivated you to participate in an exchange program in South Korea?
As my family has ties to South Korea, I wanted to experience daily life there as my parents have before they came to ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and to know what life could’ve been if I was born in South Korea instead.
What was the highlight of your exchange?
For me the highlight of my exchange was meeting new people from different countries that have the same interest in the South Korea culture as me and experiencing new things together in South Korea.
What is something that would entice you to travel back to South Korea?
I would like to go back to South Korea to see the people I met in my time in exchange again, I would also consider going back for my career.

What challenges did you face during your exchange and how did you overcome them?
During my exchange it was very difficult for me to adapt to the learning and teaching method in South Korea as it was very different to how I learnt in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥. I overcame this difficulty by working together with other people around me that were taking same classes as me, we studied together often and helped each other in topics we were struggling in.
What was your biggest takeaway from your experience?
My biggest takeaway were the memories and connections I made with new people in my time in South Korea.
Do you have one piece of advice you would tell other students thinking about going on exchange?
My one piece of advice is to be outgoing and friendly and meet new people as everyone would be looking for new people to make friends with like the first day of school.

How did participating in an exchange influence your personal growth?
I became more connected with my Korean culture and have become more independent leaving ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ my home and living in a different country.
How did this overseas experience impact your academic or career goals?
This overseas experience has given me a broad view of the Korean work culture and what it’s like to live in Korea, this has motivated me to consider Korea a possible location for my career in the future.
Did the financial support from the DACKEP grant funding impact your decision to apply or facilitate your ability to participate in the Exchange Program?
Yes, as without the grant I would’ve had to loan money and been in great debt. With the grant I was able to enjoy the full experience in exchange.
