Dr Alice Jones awarded the 2025 Conservation Science Prize

The Environment Institute is proud to announce that Dr Alice Jones, a South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n marine ecologist and member of the Institute, has been awarded the at the hosted by the Conservation Council of South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.

Dr Jones is recognised for her outstanding contributions to the conservation and restoration of coastal ecosystems. Her research focuses on the ecological and economic value of ‘blue carbon’ habitats, such as seagrasses, with the goal of driving greater investment and policy support for their protection.

Through her collaborative work with Traditional Owners, community groups, and multidisciplinary partners, Dr Jones has played a leading role in shaping national blue carbon strategies. Her work has influenced both public and private sector engagement, helping to secure a healthier future for marine environments and the communities that rely on them.

The Conservation Science Prize celebrates individuals whose research leads to real-world environmental outcomes. Dr Jones’ work reflects the award’s focus on interdisciplinary partnerships, long-term impact, evidence-based approaches, and the adoption of solutions across policy, practice, and industry.
