ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥

Professional and Continuing Education at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide is proud to launch ‘’, a new online short course developed in collaboration with the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Surrey and supported by the Surrey–Adelaide Partnership Fund. 

Available via edX from Monday 27 October, the Space Fundamentals online short course introducers learners to the basics of space science and demonstrates that people from diverse backgrounds can be part of the rapidly growing space industry.

The course has been developed by leading academics from both the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide and the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Surrey, including:

• Professor Adam Amara, Head of the School of Mathematics and Physics at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Surrey and Chief Scientist at the UK Space Agency
• Associate Professor John Culton, Director of the Andy Thomas Centre for Space Resources at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide
• Professor Melissa de Zwart, Deputy Director and Chief Investigator of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space, and Professor of Space Law and Governance, ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide 
• Dr Ana Andries, Lecturer in Sustainability Assessment at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Surrey
• Dr Christopher Bridges, Reader & IBDH Group Lead at the Surrey Space Centre; and 
• Dr Lucia Fonseca de la Bella, Faculty Strategic Project Manager (Space Sector).

The development and delivery of the course was coordinated by Professional and Continuing Education and Learning Enhancement and Innovation from the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide, along with the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Surrey. The Partnership Fund enabled a series of strategic visits to take place between the two universities shaping the course content and delivery model, while also laying the groundwork for future educational and research collaborations in space and beyond.

It is the first course in a potential series of co-branded, stackable online short courses designed to spark curiosity and build capability in the evolving space sector.

Students, professionals and curious minds are encouraged to enrol in the course from Monday 27 October.
