Expert administrator to lead Uni of Adelaide operations

A leading university administrator with significant finance and change management experience has been appointed as the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide's Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President (Services and Resources).
Mr Bruce Lines, currently Vice-President, Operations, at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Canberra, will commence in the role on 1 December 2014.
"The Chief Operating Officer role is fundamental to our organisation's success," said , Vice-Chancellor and President. "It's a challenging time for the sector and maintaining the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s operations across all portfolios - from finance and IT to marketing and human resources - is critical.
"Mr Lines has long experience and strong management skills to help us ensure the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide is well-placed to respond to the changing higher education landscape," he said.
The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide has 26,000 students, over 4000 staff and an annual turnover in excess of $950 million. It was recently ranked among the top 200 institutions in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (AWRU) 2014.
Mr Lines said he was looking forward to working at a sandstone, university in South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.
"I grew up in Adelaide so it's wonderful to be returning for such a great opportunity," said Mr Lines. "The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide has earned an enviable reputation internationally and has set out a clear and unique vision for the future. I am delighted to soon be part of that story."
Mr Lines has significant experience in university finance, property, IT, HR, student administration and planning. Presently Vice-President, Operations, at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Canberra, he began his career in higher education at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Queensland, where he performed a number of policy and academic administration roles.
He holds postgraduate qualifications in public policy and business administration from the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Canberra and Deakin ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and was awarded a Carrick Institute Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning. He is a regular speaker on tertiary education management and has presented papers in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and overseas.
