The Chancellor of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide, the Hon. Robert Hill, has been reappointed for a further two-year term to July 2014.

Mr Hill commenced as Chancellor in 2010, succeeding the Hon Justice John von Doussa QC, and is the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s 15th Chancellor since its establishment in 1874.

Mr Hill said he was honoured to lead the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s Council for another term and he particularly looked forward to overseeing the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s plans for the future.

"It is a great privilege to be part of such an iconic place of higher learning."

The forthcoming retirement of current Vice-Chancellor and President, , will mark the first change in leadership of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ in a decade.

"This is a watershed year for the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥," said the Deputy Chancellor, Mrs Pamela Martin.

"With the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor in 2012, it is imperative that the continuity and vision be maintained at the highest levels."

"The higher education sector is also going through a transformation as the first group of students commence studies in a market driven system. We must position ourselves to be flexible and responsive to those shifting paradigms."

"Robert brings to the position of Chancellor a unique insight and knowledge of the sector on a state, national and international basis."

A ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide graduate in Arts and Law, Mr Hill is known locally, nationally and internationally having been a former Permanent Representative of ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ to the United Nations and a former ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n federal politician.

He is an Adjunct Professor in Sustainability within the at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Sydney.

Before entering politics, Mr Hill was a barrister and solicitor having gained a masters degree in law from the . His long political career, from 1981 until 2006, included 10 years as the Leader of the Government in the Senate from March 1996 until his resignation in January 2006.
