The finalists for the 2011 have been announced, with six of the 15 nominees from the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide.

The six finalists have been recognised for their achievements in their chosen research field and represent a range of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s faculties and schools.

The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide finalists are:

  • Dr Stuart Brierley - Neuroscience, gastroenterology (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
  • Dr Laura Brooks - Acoustics (Quieter Transport and energy technologies)
  • Dr Claire Jessup - Diabetes and Transplantation (Diabetes)
  • Dr Lisa Moran - Women's Health (Obesity Treatment in women)
  • Dr Tara Pukala - Biological Chemistry (Parkinson's disease)
  • Dr Mark Tingay - Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering (Mining and natural disasters)
All 15 finalists will attend a reception at Government House on 25 August, hosted by His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, Governor of South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.

Eight winners will be announced, one of whom will go on to win the 2011 South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Tall Poppy of the Year Award, with its prize of $5,000.

The Tall Poppy Campaign aims to recognise and celebrate intellectual and scientific excellence in South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s young researchers.
