Uni VC to retire after a decade of outstanding leadership

The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide's Vice-Chancellor and President, , has informed the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s Chancellor, the Hon Robert Hill, of his retirement in mid-2012, following a decade of outstanding leadership.
Mr Hill said that Professor McWha's contribution has been significant and far-reaching.
"James' extremely successful tenure has been marked by a determination to revitalise the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, creating new partnerships at home and abroad and re-engaging with the local community," Mr Hill said.
"Over this period he has led the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ to an enviable position, recognised internationally for academic achievement and research excellence. James has led the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ to a strong financial position, bolstered by a record number of enrolments and research output."
Mr Hill said he would particularly like to commend the Vice-Chancellor's inclusive leadership style that has inspired high levels of morale and collaboration within both the academic and professional staff communities and the student body.
"His commitment to responding to student needs and delivering a rewarding, well-rounded ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ experience has been a hallmark of his tenure."
Mr Hill also said that he wished to pay tribute to the contribution of Lindsay McWha, who had worked tirelessly to support volunteerism and community engagement activities at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ since 2002.
The Council will initiate an international recruitment process in due course.
"We are very fortunate to have James continuing to lead the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ through a very busy 12 months ahead."
