The final concert in the Elder School of Music's Evening Concert Series - the Choral-Orchestral Finale - will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 8.00pm in Elder Hall.

This features the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and the Elder Conservatorium Chorale performing Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5 (The Reformation) and Mozart's Requiem. Conductors are Keith Crellin and Carl Crossin.

Mendelssohn's 5th symphony, written in 1829-30, was actually his second in order of composition, to celebrate the tercentenary of the Augsburg confession, an event of some significance in the Reformation.

Mozart's Requiem is a fitting finale to a splendid Evening Concert Series. Written in 1791 when Mozart was virtually on his deathbed, as a commission for Count von Walsegg zu Stuppach, the two main emotional features of the Requiem are dramatic strength and pity - both portrayed beautifully by the Chorale.

Tickets are $22 adult/$14 concession/$8 student, available through BASS (phone 131 246) or at the door.

ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide staff receive concession prices on presentation of their ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ staff card.

The Evening Concert series is generously supported by Peter Lehmann Wines, AMEX Corporate Services and 5UV Radio Adelaide.
