Asia Pacific crime prevention experts in Adelaide

Crime prevention experts from throughout the Asia-Pacific will attend a four-day ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide forum starting this Sunday, 23 January to discuss regional strategies to reduce crime.

will see law enforcement delegates, members of the judiciary, academics and senior crime prevention personnel share successful strategies to combat drug and alcohol-related offences, crime gangs, vehicle thefts, drag racing and other serious offences across the Asia-Pacific.

Delegates will attend from around ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Brunei.

Keynote addresses will be delivered by the South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Police Commissioner , the , and the at the forum, which runs from 23-26 January at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide's .

Some of the topics under discussion will include:

  • Organised crime and bikers;
  • Protecting children in an online environment;
  • Crime prevention and the elderly;
  • Successful strategies to combat motor theft;
  • Crime prevention through environmental design;
  • Licensing and policing measures to reduce alcohol-related crime;
  • Keeping track of criminals via Crimtrac, leading technology developed in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥

The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Crime Prevention Council (ACPC) is organising the forum in conjunction with the (SA Branch) and the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide.

Formed 50 years ago at a meeting hosted by the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide, the ACPC is the peak national body involved in crime prevention in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.
