A new source of regional data on gaming machine activity in South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ is now available.

The , a joint research centre of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide and , has released a gambling database which provides annual information on the number of gaming machines, venues, gambling expenditure and taxation revenue for various regions of South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.

The database draws on information published by the and the .

"The database will hopefully provide a useful tool for researchers, local government, business, media and the broader community in terms of understanding trends in gaming machine activity in regions across South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥," says , Senior Research Economist at the Centre.

The gambling database has been published as part of a new "gambling portal" hosted on the Centre's website - - which provides various resources in respect of gambling in South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.

In particular, it provides access to the extensive research that the Centre has conducted on the economic and social dimensions of gambling in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.

"The Centre's research attracts significant international interest, and with making our reports available online we hope to provide researchers with a convenient means of accessing our research," says , Executive Director of the Centre.

The gambling portal also includes a list of important dates covering the history of the gambling industry in South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and links to other relevant materials such as the Productivity Commission's recent Draft Report on Gambling in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.

The South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n Centre for Economic Studies has expertise in analysing the economic and social impact of gambling activities, particularly electronic gaming machines.
