Cancer surgeon and survivor shares his story

Professor Chris O'Brien, widely known to ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n audiences through Channel 9's reality TV program RPA, will give a free public lecture at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide next week (Tuesday 5 August) about his first-hand experience of having cancer.
His talk, "Battling Cancer: Taking responsibility and creating change", has been organised by the Northern Communities Health Foundation and the at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide.
Professor O'Brien is the former Director of the , based at and the .
In 2006 he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour requiring a number of operations, radiotherapy and months of chemotherapy. He also embraced a regime of natural medicine and meditation.
Professor O'Brien will share his story, and will also talk about the broader issue of cancer in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.
"I'll be speaking about ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s cancer burden and the challenges it poses, as well as my own cancer experience and hopes for the establishment of cancer centres in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥," he says.
