International careers evening a first for Adelaide

Leaders from industry and government from ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, China, Singapore and Malaysia will join forces at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide tonight (Monday 8 October) to present the State's first for university students.

The Careers Evening is aimed at giving more information to international and domestic students about work opportunities, issues such as migration, work visas and permanent residency, and preparing for a successful career.

The event is aimed at international students intending to go home after graduation, international students who would like to work in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, and ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n students interested in working overseas.

Among the guest speakers is Madame Zhu Xiaoyu, Minister Counsellor for Education with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Canberra - the most senior member of the Embassy staff concerned with education. She will give a presentation on Working in China, one of the world's fastest growing economies.

"A good career outcome is an important result from successful studies," says the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s International Careers Consultant, Adrienne Lovelock.

"This evening will bring students together with a number of individuals and organisations who can provide information that will help our students with their all-important career plans.

"Good career development is a natural complement to the quality learning and teaching at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, and we want our students to know what they can do to prepare for life after study."

The International Careers Evening is in addition to the main Careers Expo held every year at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥.
