Water experts gather in Adelaide

Water resources engineers from India and ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ are holding a four-day workshop at the National Wine Centre, ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide, to discuss the latest research into water resources management.
The workshop, being hosted by the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide from Monday to Thursday 12-15 February, brings together senior engineers and scientists from six technological institutes in India with experts from four ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥n universities.
"India and ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ have separate issues when it comes to water and water resources management, but the expertise needed to overcome those issues is something that we can all potentially benefit from," says the co-ordinator of the workshop, from the , ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide.
"This workshop is aimed at hearing the latest research being conducted in India and ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, exploring areas of common research interest, and establishing collaboration between researchers in both countries that will provide mutual benefits for all," he says.
"There is no doubt that water resources management is a very real issue for many countries around the world, with high environmental, economic and social consequences for getting it wrong. By working together, ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and India stand to make important gains."
Among the topics to be discussed are:
- Optimisation of water resources
- Application of computer-based methods for water planning
- Irrigation
- Interaction between surface and groundwater
- Aquifer storage and recovery
- Climate change
