Students across state nominated for scholarships

Outstanding students from schools across South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ have been nominated for one of the new $5000 scholarships being offered by the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide.

School principals have nominated candidates with outstanding academic merit and who have also made a significant contribution to their school and the wider community. These students are eligible for the of $5000 for study and living costs.

The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide has put an extra one million dollars towards new student scholarships starting in 2007 aimed at retaining the brightest students in South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ and targeting every urban and rural secondary school in the State.

ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide Vice-Chancellor and President Professor James McWha said: "We are delighted with the enthusiasm that principals across the State have adopted towards this new scholarship scheme in nominating high-achieving students from their schools and giving them this opportunity.

"The ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide was keen to ensure that students from throughout South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥, including rural regions, who are outstanding both academically and in terms of their contribution to others are able to receive this assistance and be encouraged, firstly, to take up university studies and, secondly, to do so within this State."

On top of the Principals' Scholarships, any student (from this group or others) who achieves a Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) of 99.95 and accepts an offer to study at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide will receive $10,000 under the new scheme.
