Architect of change for ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide

Internationally-renowned Canadian landscape architect, Professor Nancy Pollock-Ellwand, has been appointed the new Head of the at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide for 2007.

Professor Pollock-Ellwand will take up her appointment next January. She will also be Professor of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design.

Currently a Professor of Landscape Architecture at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, Professor Pollock-Ellwand specialises in the conservation of cultural landscapes and their history, and has an active interest in design that bridges landscape and architecture.

She has a distinguished cross-disciplinary background and significant management and leadership experience in the tertiary sector.

Her research in cultural landscapes is internationally recognised and will complement the integrated design-based nature and research strengths of the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s architectural courses.

"I welcome both the opportunities and the challenges this position offers," Professor Pollock-Ellwand said, "and the chance to be at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥ of Adelaide and in ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥. I hope to build on earlier work done here and expand the international and collaborative aspects of the programs at the ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design."

Professor Pollock-Ellwand will join , Professor of Architecture, and the interdisciplinary staff in the School.

The appointment reflects the School's focus on urban sustainability issues, design quality and environmental planning for South ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥'s future. Adelaide's reputation as a well-planned and forward thinking city in the area of architectural and landscape design was a major drawcard for the Canadian professor.
